Goddess Shailputri (?????????)
Origin – Shailputri- in Sanskrit, “Shail” means mountains, “Putri” means daughter, the daughter of the King of the Mountains Himavan or Lord Himalaya. She is also known as Hemavati and Parvati. Goddess Shailputri got married to Lord Shiva. In her previous birth she was Goddess Sati who sacrificed herself in the fire.
Navratri Day of Worship – The first among nine Durgas and is worshipped on 1st day of Navratras.
Ruling Planet – Goddess Shailputri rules the provider of all fortunes, the Moon and any bad effect of the Moon can be control by worshipping this form of Adi Shakti.
Idol – She carries Trishul in the right hand and the lotus flower in the left hand. Her head is adorned by a halfmoon, and rides nandi, a bull so she is also known as Vrisharudha (?????????).
