New Delhi: On Friday, tremors were felt in Delhi and the surrounding areas, which caused people to rush out of their homes.
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was felt on the Richter scale in Delhi-NCR. According to initial reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was Rohtak. The tremor was felt at 8:08 p.m. and the epicenter was at a depth of about 3.3 km, it was reported. No damage to property or life has been reported so far. However, many stormed out of fear for their homes and social networking sites were flooded with news about the tremors that compared them to the ongoing crisis from COVID-19.
“An average magnitude 4.5 earthquake had an epicenter in Rohtak, Haryana,” said the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
This is the second earthquake in the past 48 hours. On Thursday, the National Seismology Center recorded a 2.5-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale with its epicenter in Faridabad.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center shared a map of the tremors in Delhi and said an estimated 2 crore population was affected by the tremors.
