New Delhi: Parshuram Jayanti commemorates the birthday of the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu – Parshuram. The day falls in the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Vaishakh.

Parshuram is considered the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that, like other Lord Avatars, Parshuram was born to kill evil. Aggression, war and bravery define this incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who valued equality and justice.

Bhàrgava r?ma, Jamadagnya r?ma and Rambhadra are his other names. He was born the son of Brahmin Jamadagni and his Kshatriya wife Renuka on the hills of Janapav in what is now Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He worshiped Lord Shiva in the temple near the ashram, where he stayed and prayed. It is named after his father Jamadagni Ashram.

Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It usually takes place during Shukla Paksha Tritya in Vaisakha month. This year it falls on April 25th. To honor her adoration for Lord Parshuram, who is celebrated as a warrior brahmin, Twitterati shared stunning pictures and paid tribute.

It is believed that Lord Parshuram was born during the Pradosh Kala. Once Tritiya begins during the Kala period, the time is considered appropriate to observe Parshurama Jayanti.

On the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti 2020, Vijay Inder Singla, Minister of Education and PWD of the Punjab government, went to Twitter to convey his warm wishes to the compatriots.

According to Hindu belief, Lord Parshuram is considered a “Brahmin” warrior. In some Hindu texts, Parshurama was referred to as Rama Jamadagnya, Rama Bhargava and Veerarama.

Hindu belief dictates that he still lives on earth. Therefore, he is not worshiped. On Parashurama Jayanti followers observe fasting and worship Lord Vishnu with flowers, kumkum, chandan and tulsi leaves.
