Hindi and Marathi film director and actor Nishikant Kamat took his last breath in a Hyderabad hospital on Monday. Kamat, 50, has been battling cirrhosis of the liver for the past two years.

A statement from the AIG Hospital in Hyderabad where the filmmaker was admitted confirmed the news. “Since yesterday [Sunday] he developed respiratory failure and hypotension. Despite the maximum efforts of hepatologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, and intensive care physicians, his condition deteriorated, eventually leading to multiple organ failure. Today [Monday], starting in the afternoon, his vital signs began to decrease and he succumbed to his illness. Our condolences go to his family, friends and fans ”, it says in part of the statement.

Bollywood actors have expressed their condolences. Devgn tweeted, “My relationship with Nishikant wasn’t just about Drishyam, a movie he made with Tabu and me. It was an association that I really valued. He was bright; always smiling. He left too early. RIP Nishikant. “



Riteish Deshmukh, who starred in Lai Bhaari, said on Twitter, “I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat rest in peace. ”Abraham tweeted and said,” Won’t get over it … rest in peace #NishikantKamat.

John Abraham, who was directed by Mr. Kamat in films like Force and Rocky Handsome, tweeted, “Won’t get over it … rest in peace.”

Kamat is best known for directing Bollywood films including the Ajay Devgn taboo star Drishyam, Irrfan Khan’s Madaari, R Madhavan-Kay Kay Menon star Mumbai Meri Jaan, and John Abraham’s films like Force and Rocky Handsome. He also made acclaimed Marathi films such as Dombivali Fast and Lai Bhaari, and starred in the Marathi films Saatchya Aat Gharat and Rocky Handsome.
